One of my favorite Old Fashioned variants!

Hi Reader!

I'm in New York on family business, and having made this trip a few times now, one of my favorite eateries on Long Island, Tocolo Cantina, has one of my favorite cocktails ever - The Chocolate Chili Old Fashioned.

This was one of the first cocktails I figured out how to make on my own, based on the list of ingredients on the restaurant's menu - Bulleit Bourbon, Ancho Reyes Chili Liqueur, and Fee Brothers Aztec Chocolate Bitters.

What I didn't know then, that I know now, is that the Old Fashioned follows a basic template: 2 ounces of whiskey, 1/2 ounce of sweetener, and 2 dashes of bitters. The trick is playing with the ratios to tailor the taste to your liking, and with a little experimentation, I figured out what I believe is the ratio that Tocolo uses for this drink.

If you're interested in trying it yourself, I've taken out all the guesswork for you. The recipe is posted on the Bourbony.co web site - check it out, and if you make this delicious drink for yourself, please do me a solid and let me know what you think by leaving a comment or review on the recipe!

Cheers,

Bob Sawyer
