We just got home from another trip to Long Island, and while we weren't able to visit our two favorite hotel-adjacent restaurants, I thought it'd be nice to revisit the Old Fashioned variant from one of those restaurants, Tocolo Cantina.
The Chocolate Chili Old Fashioned was one of the first recipes I posted on Bourbony, and it's still one of the most popular. I'm 99% certain that I have the recipe spot-on, but then again, each time I make it for myself, I change it up a bit. For example, the photo above is from tonight's cocktail hour. I didn't have an orange for garnish, so I used two cherries instead. Sometimes I add a dash of Gran Gala to get the orange flavor in; sometimes I stick closely to the recipe as printed. No matter what, it's always a chocolately, spicey, bourbon-y delight.
In other news, I'm still working on a recipe that uses the pineapple sage and lavender liqueur I recently brewed up. It's been a busy summer, and add to that a recent bout of COVID, and then travel, and top it all off with the fact that I haven't quite landed on the right recipe with that liqueur yet. It's coming, though. I promise!
Meanwhile check out the Chocolate Chili Old Fashioned and let me know what you think! Also feel free to check out more recipes on Bourbony.co!
